Commonly for identity, signage or event design projects, we put together a “mood” board of reference images, symbols, typography and colors into what we call the “Graphic Vocabulary”. This helps facilitate good interactions with the client and serves as part of the brief for the design team as we develop the project assets.

Here’s a few of the symbols that I designed for a western art museum. Unfortunately, the symbols were never used, so I thought I’d share some of them here. Can you guess what they represent?
